Micropigmentation in Hatherleigh

Micropigmentation in Hatherleigh is a shortening for Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) which is the name given to the process that creates the look of hair follicles, it creates a look of real hair on the male or female scalp. This can be either to give the appearance of shaved or short hairs or add density to thinning hair. The look is achieved by strategically placing a colour pigment to replicate the follicle base on the scalp.

A scalp micro pigmentation treatment is also great for those with minor thinning or are reseeding. By accurately replicating your own natural hair follicles and hair colour, scalp pigmentation can help strengthen and add density to thinning areas, this creates an undetectable illusion of thicker, stronger hair. Giving you the look of a full head of hair and style with the confidence to match.Whether you have just started thinning or have already lost most of your hair, Scalp Micropigmentation will work for you giving a confidence boost.

The Benefits of Micropigmentation in Hatherleigh

Micropigmentation is a hair restoration treatment that is suited to a wide variety of conditions. It is non-invasive and holistic. Once completed and aftercare routines have been adhered to, you are left with a maintenance-free look that will remain in place for a good three to five years before requiring top-ups. So what are the ultimate benefits of scalp micropigmentation?

  • SMP restores the natural hairline in the case of moderate to complete baldness
  • Conceals varying forms of alopecia and diffuse thinning
  • Effectively reduces the visual impact scarring, burns or blemishes can have on the scalp.
  • It is an affordable treatment coming in at only the fraction of the cost of its counterparts such as hair transplants.
  • Scalp micropigmentation is a safe treatment. Pigments used during treatment are full of solely natural ingredients and are often found to be plant-based.
  • And to save the best until last… it is a treatment that doesn’t claim to promote hair growth, but it is one that can claim that it is guaranteed to work. This is because it conceals the problem over attempting to cure one that is notoriously difficult to reverse.

Scalp Micropigmentation for Density

Hair thinning. It’s a nightmare for many, probably for the primary reason that we’re all preconditioned in our thought processes. We’ve been led to believe, for generations, that hair should be thick, glossy and flowing. At the very minimum, without visible scalp showing through when cropped. But unfortunately, that just isn’t always the case. Which is the reason scalp micropigmentation for density is becoming the go-to as a solution to hair thinning.

Diffuse thinning happens the world over and for a multitude of reasons. However, it’s little talked about as it is either deemed as a fact of life, for men, or just a taboo subject for female hair thinning. But what are the statistics on the disorder? And how does SMP for diffuse thinning work?

SMP for Density

  • Hair loss and density issues are linked to genetics with the mother bearing the influential DNA in this potentially debilitating disorder.
  • 25% of men experience hair loss and thinning before the age of 21
  • 85% of men have experienced diffuse thinning or baldness by the time they reach 50 years of age
  • Nearly half the population of women will have experienced density issues by the time they reach 50 years of age
  • Pattern baldness is permanent owing to the follicle shrinking, deeming natural regrowth impossible
  • Hair loss is often linked to hormonal issues, such as childbirth, and is a temporary situation yet predicting the timescales of regrowth is extremely difficult
  • Cancer patients, bridging the gap between hair loss and regrowth post-treatment

There are many hair loss solutions out there, from shampoos and foams to hair transplant, laser and light therapy are also included. However, the problem with all of these treatments is that they are all trying to promote new hair growth. This deems them unreliable and without the guarantee of a success rate.

Scalp Micropigmentation in the case of diffuse thinning is different. There are no promises of new hair growth, instead, it works to conceal the devastation that hair loss can bring.

It works by a technician implanting natural pigments just below the surface of your skin using a machine that’s been fitted with a microneedle. Once healed, the series of tiny dots that have been implanted provide the appearance of imitation hair follicles that sit underneath the hairline giving the impression of density.

The additional advantages of this contemporary treatment are that you are not required to shave your head to receive treatment, it is also quick and non-invasive with healing times being incredibly short.

If you are experiencing diffuse thinning and are looking to receive Scalp Micropigmentation for density problems then our technicians are just a quick phone call away.

How long does Scalp Micropigmentation take?

The first question any given technician is faced with when meeting a future client… how long does Scalp Micropigmentation take? And it’s a relatively complex one to answer. There is no written rule that SMP treatments, from start to finish, will take a certain number of hours, days or weeks. It depends on a multitude of different factors but let’s take a look at what’s involved.

  • A regular Scalp Micropigmentation treatment session will last anything from 2 to 5 hours from start to finish. This is a timescale that really does vary. Some clients have a skin type that’s much more complex to work alongside, others may be super simple and quick.
  • A minimum treatment number should be three visits. Unless, of course, you’ve already received prior SMP treatment and are just after a top-up owing to fading due to time which has passed.
  • Maximum numbers are more variable, depending on the reasons you’ve chosen Scalp Micropigmentation treatment. An average of 3 with a 4th for a final “polish off the edges stage” is a good rule of thumb to work to.
  • Aftercare routines are very important as they ensure the longevity of your SMP treatment. It’s a good idea to introduce these into your schedule and think of them as part of the treatment plan.
  • Finally, the all-important point which will determine your length of time for SMP treatment is why you are looking to receive it in the first place. Scare concealment is way more complex than working on a patient for diffuse thinning. Pattern baldness is different from alopecia as men’s hair problems are not the same as female hair loss.

Our technicians are on hand to talk you through anything to do with your treatment.

Does Scalp Micropigmentation hurt?

Offering an accurate answer to this question is extremely difficult to do. Pain thresholds vary from person to person. The treatment doesn’t penetrate particularly deeply into the skin, however, it does break the skin’s barrier and underneath that barrier are nerves so you’re going to feel it.

There are several things you can do that will help to make your personal experience the best it can be. Your technician will also be there for you and can answer any questions you may have.

  • Ensure you are relaxed when you arrive at the SMP clinic. Wear your comfortable clothing, bring your Airpods, get your favorite playlist on standby and be yourself, we do have access to pretty much any music in the treatment room. We also have access to hundreds of films. The procedure can last the best part of half a day and so you may as well treat the experience as a leisurely one.
  • Consider taking a codeine-based pain killer before you arrive at the clinic. Avoid at all costs Aspirin as it is a known anticoagulant and if you are taking any other type of blood-thinner certainly seek medical advice before undergoing scalp micropigmentation treatment.
  • And finally, place yourself into the right frame of mind prior to treatment. Fear and pain are closely linked. The tenser you are the more sensitive you’ll be. Try some breathing exercises, or even ten minutes of yoga beforehand.

Please remember that any discomfort you’ll experience is worth it. Scalp Micropigmentation is a treatment that is, by its own nature, life-changing. It is known to not only conceal the devastation that hair loss can induce but can restore confidence levels.

If you’ve been considering treatment and you’ve been asking yourself, does Scalp Micropigmentation hurt? And you are still unsure about receiving SMP for this sole reason, please pick up the phone and chat with us.
